Beer: see Piss Beermeister: The all important hash member who is responsible for bringing the beer and munchies to the hash. Beer Near: indicates proximity of beverages; can be associated with a beer check, on-in, or finish. Check Back (CB): trail mark indicating that runners should turn around and retrace their path while looking for true trail, which branched off somewhere before the CB; usually accompanied by a number indicating the number of marks the pack should go back before looking for true trail. Chase Vehicle: vehicle used to transport beer, food, hash bags to the finish. Checking: yelled by hounds who are looking for trail off of a Decision Point or Check Back. The Circle: the end of the trail, the place where the beer is, the place where you want to get. Circle Up: Demand made by the GM when trying to get all the hashers to circle up to begin passing out down downs. When you hear this get up and form a circle! DFL: "Dead F*cking Last" - the hound that reaches the circle last. Down Down: Chugging a beer (or other beverage ) in the circle. Eagle Trail: a longer and/or more difficult than the Turkey trail. Erections: mismanagement elections. False Trail: see Bad Trail; a section of trail going nowhere, designed to slow down the pack and give the hare more lead time and keep the pack together. FRB: "Front Running Bastard" - the hound that reaches the circle first. Full Moon: A hash held once a month at the date and time of the full moon. Yes, this is usually late at night. "G" Day: February 11th. A.S. Gispert ("G"), the father of hashing, was killed in action defending Singapore from invading Japanese forces on this date in 1942. H3: Short for Hash House Harriers. The jHavelina Hash is referred to as JH3. Hare: The hasher that sets the trail for everyone else to follow. Hare Raiser: The member of Mis-Management that is responsible for scheduling hares. Hare Snare: When a hound catches a hare on trail. Hash God: see Self-Appointed Officious Assholes. Hash Hymn: song sung by the pack during down-downs. Hash Shit: A dubious award that is handed out to a hare when he/she has done something really stupid, real or imagined, on or off trail. Hash Time: an erratic measure of a precise phenomena. If the hash is scheduled to start at 2:00 pm, the actual start may be 2:17 or 2:29, or ??? Hash Trash: newsletter, filled with lies, semi-lies and outright truths. Hounds: see Pack. The hashers that are following the trail set by the hare. GM: Grand Master - the unpaid chump in charge who organizes and puts up with all the shit required to do this whole thing. Last Mark: yelled by a hound when he suddenly runs out of trail & wants to let other hounds behind him know that he is searching for trail. Live Hare: hare who gets a nominal head start and is pursued by the pack as he lays trail. Mis-Management: The collective idiots that try to organize the club. Nash Hash: a national interhash. On-Out: yelled by the hounds when they first leave the start in pursuit of the hare. On-On: yelled by the hounds when they are on trail. On-In: yelled to welcome hounds into the beer check or circle. On-After: place everyone goes to eat & drink after the circle is finished. Pack: all the hounds on trail. Pack Arrow: mark left by a member of the pack indicating direction taken; follow at your own peril Piss: see Beer. Poofter: poser. Not a true hasher. A civilian, and one that needs a life at that. Pre-Lay: act of laying the trail or sections thereof before the hash; like masturbation, widely practiced but seldom admitted. Religious Adviser/Advisor (RA): mismanagement member normally in charge of blessing the hash and settling disputes over tradition; sometimes in charge of down-down ceremonies. R U?: Yelled by pack members who are trying to see if anyone else in the area is on true trail. Short-cutting bastard: Since this ain't a race, short-cutting is 112 % OK. Recommended even. Shiggy: bushes, briars, cactus, washes, desert, mud etc. Short-Cutting: the act of attempting to short-cut the trail, see also Zenning. Short-Cutting Bastard: habitual short-cutter, a title of esteem in most hashes. True Trail Arrow: trail mark indicating true trail. Turkey Trail: a shorter and/or easier trail than the Eagle trail. Violation: any infraction of hash etiquette or tradition, on or off trail. Violator: he or she who must be punished, normally by down-down. Virgin: someone who has never hashed. Wanker: a humorless person. YBF: bad trail mark*; stands for "You've Been F*cked" Zenning: mysterious method of trying to find the circle without following trail.
